Blue
Devil Bio...
Brent Selman, now in his seventh year leading Duke Hockey, has guided the Blue Devils to two ACCHL Tournament titles, three of ACCHL regular-season titles and two Canes Cup championships. With over 85 victories at Duke, the three-time ACCHL Coach of the Year ranks among the league's all-time winningest coaches. Duke has finished above .500 in six of the Wilfrid Laurier graduate's seven seasons, averaged over 12 wins per year, and have finished no lower than third in the ACCHL standings. While Du ke has certainly enjoyed the championship seasons and banner years under Selman's leadership, it has been the Ontario native's commitment, ambition and loyalty that have had the biggest impact on the Blue Devil program. Since his arrival, Selman has significantly improved Duke Hockey's culture on and off the ice with an emphasis on pride, communication, collective responsibility and friendship. In the process, he has dramatically enriched the lives, the college experiences, and the hockey careers of each of his players.
Since he first took over as Duke Head Coach, Selman has consistently exhibited a desire to give back to the game. He has served as a head instructor for the Carolina Hurricanes hockey camps for three years, works as a player evaluator for the Hurricanes Amateur Hockey Program and USA Hockey's Under 13 program, and serves as a Southeast Region Instructor for USA Hockey's Coaching Education Program. In all of his coaching roles, Selman's passion for hockey is contagious and energizing. The experienced, knowledgeable and spirited Duke Head Coach is a true ambassador of the game. |
