Markowitz Expects to Hit the Ice in January
WASHINGTON, DC -- Duke's skilled center Brian
Markowitz underwent successful knee surgery today, and
expects to play for Duke after the team's 2002 Christmas break.
Markowitz had injured his knee during an offseason cardio workout.
Ironically, Markowitz was going to miss the first half on
the year anyway, due to a planned semester in Europe. Without
Markowitz in the first half, the Devils will be without their
second leading goal scorer from a year ago.
In 2001-02, Markowitz scored 22 goals, and had 11 assists.
His 33 points was third most on the team. In addition to his
very positive output on the ice, Markowitz leads by example
off the ice. The junior is a workhorse in the gym, and is
often the first at practice, and the last to leave.
