Duke and Georgia Tech to Play in Philips Arena
ATLANTA,
GA -- Georgia
Tech Hockey Business Manager Sarge Day informed the Duke
Hockey Team
that the October 19 game between Duke and the Yellow Jackets
will take place at Philips
Arena, home of the NHL's Atlanta
Thrashers.
The October 19 game will follow the Thrashers-New
York Islanders game. Last season, the Yellows Jackets
played the Georgia Bulldogs before a crowd of 11,000 fans
at Philips Arena. The tremendous venue, which opened September
1999, seats 18,750 fans for hockey, and cost $213 million.
Duke and Georgia Tech will play October 18-19 in Atlanta.
The teams last met on October 5, 2001 in Durham. Duke lost
that game 3-2. The Yellow Jackets also defeated Duke in Durham
on October 7, 2000, by a score of 4-2. The first game of the
weekend series will take place on Friday evening at 9:15 at
the Ice Forum.
