N.C. State Slams Duke 9-1
HILLSBOROUGH,
NC -- N.C. State skated to an easy 9-1 victory over Duke. The
Wolf Pack capitalized on their scoring chances all night and
played a much more organized game than the Blue Devils. Thus,
for the second consecutive game, the Devils trailed 4-0 after
the first period.
The second period brought the same results as the first.
The Wolfpack continued to take advantage of their odd-man
rushes and make great passes in their own zone. Again, the
Devils gave up four goals in the period, and N.C. State held
a commanding 8-0 lead after two periods of play.
With the game in hand, the third period was merely a formality.
Duke finally got on the board with just 1:18 left in the game
on a slap shot from the point by Ben
Peterson. The Blue Devils will need to improve if
they hope to have better results at next weekend's Canes
Cup in Raleigh.
GAME NOTES
Duke goalie Marc
Roitman played the third period and stopped 15 of
the 16 shots that he faced.
